AVMA Convention in San Antonio, TX
The 2016 AVMA Convention was held in San Antonio, TX on August 5-9. Every veterinary technician member of our faculty traveled to Texas to help make the event a success and represent Apex College of Veterinary Technology in the greater community.
Kim Spelts, BS, CVT, VTS (Anesthesia and Analgesia) was a speaker on a number of topics in anesthesia at the convention. Attendees were able to visit multiple sessions to learn from her about induction, monitoring, and recovery at an expert technician level. Kim was also able to assist in providing trusted monitoring and feedback to the attending veterinarians for laboratory sessions that required sedation. Ramona Crane, BA, LVT, CVT and Rainy McDonald, AAS, CVT worked with American Veterinary Medical Association to coordinate, setup, and organize all of the laboratory sessions during the convention.
Our faculty was also able to team up with the amazing local faculty and students of Palo Alto College's Veterinary Technology program to ensure that the laboratory supplies could be sourced in the area and that the laboratories had adequate coverage and help.
This was another destination marked by very long days and very warm and humid weather but we are so proud of our faculty for showing the veterinary community the quality of education that we believe in.
